It's ALWAYS an adventure

My life is one long string of events that often makes me question "Am I being punked?!" Trust me...I am a walking comedy of errors. And after spending 12 years with me, my husband has come to expect the unexpected. Every day. LOL So yesterday after putting the boys to bed, I looked at the clock and realized I could juuuust make it to the craft store in time to grab a couple new tips for my cake decorating class (it was about 8:20pm). So I kissed the Hubs goodbye and said "I'm going to grab a few things for my class and then stop at Leica's to pick up her kit. I won't be long." Remember those words...I won't be long. The Hubs no longer questions me on this as long as I have my phone on me. Which I did so I jumped into the nearly empty truck with the Hubs calling out "Can you fill up the truck for me on your way back?" Oh sure, I was in the mood to take care of a blue job. No problem. {Yes, there are blue jobs and pink jobs in our house. It's wonderful. I haven't pumped my own gas or taken out the garbage in like 6 years.} So off I went to the store, meeting up with another of my gorgeous gal pals Karen of KAGS. We chatted for a good 20 minutes before we got cold and scooted off. Then it was off to Leica's for the "quick" drop off. BWAHAHAHAHA. Yeah right. All it takes is a couple of previous meltdowns, some interesting moments in the day, throw in a couple of cute kid antecdotes and add the Olympic torch for good measure {added to the fact that we have highschool history together} and what do you end up with? A 3 hour gab fest in the foyer of her house with my truck running in the driveway. Oh yeah...so totally forgot about my truck. So when I left at 1am I was going through my mind where the all night gas stations were in the city because I do not have cardlock. Now you have to remember what I said previously. I am really shaky on the whole working a gas pump thing. I have never "paid at the pump" and the only reason I know how to work a cardlock thingy is because my Dad let me use his when I was in college. And that was quite some time ago so the knowledge was a little fuzzy. I pulled up to the Co-op and saw a big sign that said pay at the pump. Great! Got out and literally spent 10 minutes pushing buttons on the machine, swiping my card, etc until it finally said "Begin Fuelling." Awesome! I figured it out! So I pressed the handle and the numbers started going up sooooo sloooowly. What? It took me about 10 minutes to get up to 17 cents. No kidding. I pulled the nozzle out and even tried to squeeze some out onto the ground to see how fast it was coming out and was rewarded with a trickle. So I figured that pump was maybe out of gas...I completed the transaction and the thing charged me for the 17 cents (complete with receipt!) and I got into the vehicle and spun around to one of the pumps on the other side. Oh yeah, I can hear you laughing. I really am a glutton for punishment. So I went through the whole process again with the same result. Except this time it didn't charge me anything. Complete with receipt. LOL It maybe started occurring to me that the pumps were shut off. Well, if they were they need to post a sign of the hours of operation!!! I ended up driving waaaay out of my way because I knew there was an all night 7-11 on Central. Little did I know that it doesn't have gas pumps. Are you kidding me?! So I drove a little further out of my way because I was sure the 8th street one had gas pumps. I was also sure that I was going to run out of gas. Oh thank heaven for a 7-11, right? Well, no late night nachos for me...I booked it home and was in bed by 2am. With my Bo Bunny layout still sitting half done on my desk. LOL I guess that's a job for nap time this afternoon. Leica, what on earth did I keep you from?!? I had a great time, I hope I can run out of gas in your driveway again soon!

Oh Kate, Unexplained absences from home are the story of my life. We once watched a tv show about infidelity and they said the #1 sign that your spouse is having an affair is "unexplained absences". My husband cracked up laughing and said something about "so that's where you've been!" Thank God our marriage is built on trust or I'd be up a creek.

You'll find me up the same creek as Bamm-ela - except I'd be the one with the run out cell-phone - that's if I remembered to bring it with!
Happy Birthday!

Personally, I think it's a form of adult-onset ADD. At least that's my excuse ... I head out with a plan (as you did, Kate) and end up with a whole other adventure to report. And Karen, let's start a support group for people who forget their phones or forget to charge them. ARgh! When will I learn???
